ProBono.Org Pretoria attended a Mental Health Training Workshop offered by Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation. The topic discussed was Trauma, Stress Management and Self Care. The presenters for the day were Ms Celeste Matross and Ms Thembisile Masondo of CSVR.

ProBono.Org Durban hosted a seminar on Drafting of Lease Agreements in terms of the Consumer Protection Act. Ms Jenny Finnigan of Shepstone and Wylie was the presenter. The seminar was held on Friday, the 27th of November at the offices of Shepstone and Wylie in Umhlanga. Attendees found the seminar very useful.

ProBono.Org Durban hosted a seminar for attorneys on Domestic Partnerships on Tuesday, the 17th of November. The speaker was Ms Kate Oosthuizen of Shepstone & Wylie attorneys. The venue was the Victoria and Griffiths Mxenge law library boardroom.

Costs seminar, 17 February 2015

ProBono.Org, hosted by Fasken Martineau, held a breakfast discussion to discuss the issue of costs in pro bono matters. The seminar was aimed at discussing cases where costs have been granted to pro bono litigants, what averments to put in court papers to substantiate acting in the public interest, costs orders against pro bono litigants, cession agreements with the Law Society and dealing with the issue of security for costs in pro bono matters.

Refugee Law Workshop - 12 February 2014

On the 12 February 2014 ProBono.Org held a Refugee Law Workshop at Bowman Gilfillan offices in Sandton, Johannesburg. The workshop was a success with an attendance of 27 professionals from various different law firms. Kaajal Ramajathan- Keogh, a Refugee Law expert, from Lawyers for Human Rights presented the workshop and provided an in-depth analysis on the legislation, the lived realities of refugees and asylum seekers in South Africa, the legal problems that they face and how attorneys can assist this
